3 Money Making Tips from MMA Odds
3 Tips For Making Money Betting On MMA Fights
This is a guest article from Justin over at MMA Odds.
As someone who’s won and lost some big bets over the year, I’ve learned a few tough lessons that I now apply to my MMA betting. Here they are…
1. Find value in the underdogs
When you’re betting on moneylines such as in MMA, you really need to always be looking for underdogs that are offering you good value.
If you think a fighter has a good chance of winning, and hes getting +150 odds or better, then you should definitely take a shot on him.
2. Stay away from large favorites
My friends who bet on fights always get suckered in by the huge favorites. They see Chuck Liddell at -400 vs Keith Jardine and think its lock. In order for this bet to be profitable over the long term, Chuck would have to win 5 out of 6 fights between the two.
Most of the time the underdog is a much better value in these situations.
3. Don’t side with the majority
Everyone’s heard the old cliche “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is” Well this is pretty much spot on when it comes to mma betting.
I remember when Couture and Lesnar fought, every one of my friends thought that Couture was going to crush Lesnar. There was even a poll online that said 80% of people thought Couture would win.
Yet the odds had Lesnar as the favorite in the fight.
In these situations I love to go “against the public” and bet on the guy that everyone is against. It’s a proven strategy for making money when betting on sports (especially fights).
