MMA Betting sites for US Bettors

Due to recent changes involving the U.S. Department of Justice and their battle vs online poker sites with American players, many sportsbooks have taken the safer route and pulled from the U.S. as well.  Recently popular mma sportsbooks such as Sportsbook.com, BetUS, and Sports Interaction have either stopped taking action from Americans or have blocked New registrants from the U.S. from registering.  It is unfortunate as these sportsbooks were quality bookies to bet with.

There are still a few online options for Americans to bet with, these online sports books still welcome American action.

  1. Bodog
  2. 5Dimes
  3. BetOnline

For non-American mixed martial arts and other sports bettors, everything is still good and status quo.  Good luck with your UFC 130 picks, the next upcoming fight night!

.

With only a week to go before UFC 128, the devastation in Japan has forced a lineup change with Akiyama pulling out over concerns in his homeland.  Nevertheless this should still be an action filled card.

Jon Jones is easily the most hyped mma wrestler to fight in the UFC since Brock Lesnar.  Unlike Brock though, Jon Jones has a high level grasp on mixed martial arts and even though Shogun Rua was once considered the best pound for pound fighter, Bones Jones is the favorite in this fight.  How do you pick a winner in this fight?  MMA purists will hardly ever go against Shogun and who wants to pick against one of the most exciting fighters ever who has yet to actually “lose” a fight.  My recommendation would be to take the underdog Shogun, the #1 reason is training time.  Jones is taking this fight less than 2 months after his last fight, and most title contenders get at least double the preparation and training time.  These two are both great fighters and unfortunately one of them has to fall.

Bet on Mauricia Rua  over Jon Jones at Bodog +165 or Bet on Jon Jones over Mauricia Rua at Sportsbook.com -200

Urijah Faber finally makes his UFC debut and will be a heavy favorite over Eddie Wineland.  Though Eddie is on a 4 fight win streak with back to back knockout of the nights, it is extremely tough to knock out Faber.  There is upset potential, but very slightly as Faber is simply too well rounded.  Look for Urijah to take him down and keep him there.

Bet on Urijah Faber  over Eddie Wineland at 5Dimes -420 or Bet on Eddie Wineland over Urijah Faber at BetUS +325

Dan Miller will be the replacement for Akiyama in a fight vs Nate Marquardt.   Since this is not a title fight or a direct #1 contenders match, Nate Marquardt will win.  He is an unbelievable fighter but only loses in clutch fights.  Not only that, Nate’s wrestling is far superior to that of Dan’s and should be able to control the match.

Bet on Nate Marquardt over Dan Miller at 5Dimes -350 or Bet on Dan Miller over Nate Marquardt at Bodog +260

On the other hand brother Jim Miller is on one crazy hot streak with 6 wins in a row.   Facing him will be the UFC debut of Kamal Shalorus.  Jim Miller has way too much octagon experience to lose this fight to Kamal.  His all around great fighting skills will be too much to handle and perhaps he will finally earn some title contention with a win here.

Bet on Jim Miller over Kamal Shalorus at Sportsbook.com -245 or Bet on Kamal Shalorus over Jim Miller at 5Dimes +210

I don’t know the last time I figured Mirko CroCop would win a mma fight, and this time is no different.  Brendan Schaub is a rising star in the heavyweight division and once again Mirko is a gateway fighter in this stage of his career.  Crocop is no longer crocop, and Schaub can sure throw a mean overhand.  Brendan will catch him here and hopefully put an end to Filipovic’s illustrious career.

Bet on Brendan Schaub over Mirko Filipovic at Sportsbook.com -240 or Bet on Mirko Filipovic over Brendan Schaub at 5Dimes +230

UFC 127 Picks

UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch

Date: Feb 27, 2011

Location: Sydney, Australia (event airs Feb. 26 in North America)
Venue: Acer Arena
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

MAIN CARD

  • Jon Fitch  vs. B.J. Penn
  • Michael Bisping  vs. Jorge Rivera
  • Dennis Siver  vs. George Sotiropoulos
  • Chris Lytle vs. Brian Ebersole
  • Chris Camozzi  vs. Kyle Noke

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Spencer Fisher vs. Ross Pearson
  • Alexander Gustafsson vs. James Te Huna
  • Riki Fukuda vs. Nick Ring
  • Mark Hunt vs. Chris Tuchscherer
  • Maciej Jewtuszko vs. Curt Warburton
  • Tom Blackledge vs. Anthony Perosh
  • Jason Reinhardt vs. Tiequan Zhang

UFC returns to Australia for UFC127 which a nice night (day for Australians) of fighting.  Also starting with this event, MMA Betting.net will be providing the best lines for you to bet on each of the fights at our partnered online betting sites.

Has BJ Penn returned for good?  After his lethargic title performances, BJ comes back and absolute destroys an aging Matt Hughes.  Jon Fitch is the favourite in this fight and deservingly so, he fights a consistently good fight each time out.  I would go with the safer fighter here as you still don’t know which BJ shows up and Fitch is a good enough fighter to beat a good BJ.

Bet on Jon Fitch over BJ Penn at Sportsbook.com -200 or Bet on BJ Penn over Jon Fitch at 5Dimes +170

Not too many thought that Jorge Rivera would ever participate in a co main event, but he’s been on an absolute tear lately and definitely deserves a showcased fight against Michael Bisping.  These two are pretty evenly matched in terms of fight skills, but according to oddsmakers they are polar opposites.  The lines on Jorge Rivera are way too good to pass up and he is very capable of shutting Bisping up.  I would strongly consider making a play on Rivera here.

Bet on Jorge Rivera over Michael Bisping at Sportsbook.com +300 or Bet on Michael Bisping over Jorge Rivera at Bodog -340

Dennis Siver is one individual who I would never want to fight, he is built like a tank and can probably kick over a tree.  George Sotiropoulos is just plain awesome and is my choice to be the title holder before the end of the year.  Oddsmakers feel the same way as he is a heavy favourite.  Gamblers may be enticed to make a play on Siver as he is good enough to win, but my pick is on George for whom I do not believe will lose a fight in 2011 (he has not lost a fight since 2006).

Bet on George Sotiropoulos over Dennis Siver at 5Dimes -330 or Bet on Dennis Siver over George Sotiropoulos at Bodog +315

Kyle Noke and Chris Camozzi never ended up meeting during the Ultimate Fighter Team Ortiz vs Team Liddell though both were favourites to win the show.  Noke is a slight favorite here with also the home town crowd to cheer him on.  Noke appears to be the safer bet in this fight.

Bet on Kyle Noke over Chris Camozzi at BetUS -190 or Bet on Chris Camozzi over Kyle Noke at Sportsbook.com +175

As of posting there are no lines for Chris Lytle vs Brian Ebersole as Brian was a late replacement for Carlos Condit, which would have been a great standup slugfest and most likely fight of the night.  It would be difficult to see how Eversole can beat Lytle though with the way “Lights Out” has been fighting as of late.  This will be Brian Ebersole’s UFC debut so I don’t know too much about him.

Strikeforce Diaz vs Cyborg Picks

Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg

Date: Jan 29, 2011

Location: San Jose, Calif.
Venue: HP Pavilion
Broadcast: Showtime

Strikeforce Diaz vs Cyborg Odds from 5Dimes

MAIN CARD

  • Champ Nick Diaz -335 vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos +305 (for welterweight title)
  • Champ Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza -220 vs. Robbie Lawler (for middleweight title) +200
  • Herschel Walker -350 vs. Scott Carson +260
  • Roger Gracie -145 vs. Trevor Prangley+115

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Nate Coy -260 vs. Nate Moore +200
  • Isaiah Hill +340 vs. Bobby Stack -465
  • Ron Keslar +190 vs. Eric Lawson-250
  • Germaine de Randamie vs. Stephanie Webber
  • Lucas Gamaza +190 vs. James Terry -250
  • Jenna Castillo vs. Charlene Gellner
  • Anthony Dariano vs. Alan Perez
  • Niko Jackson vs. Ricky Jackson
  • Sam Bracamonte vs. Armin Safiari

This is Strikeforce’s first card of 2011.  Even though mma enthusiasts are waiting for their next card (the grand prix heavyweight tournament) next month in New Jersey, this card has a pretty good top 2 fights.

Though this will be an exiting fight, there is no doubt that Nick Diaz is a much better fighter than Cyborg Santos.  Maybe if it were Christine it would be a closer fight.  Diaz is the more technical fighter and will be able to outhit Cyborg somewhere in the 10:1 range.  Diaz can take punches as well.  An upset is a tough pick here, go with Diaz.

The next fight will be much closer.  You can never count Lawler out of a fight, and I think this might be the case in his fight versus Jacare.  Yes Souza is great on the ground, but getting knocked out by an upkick still shows how strong (weak) his chin really is.  Will he be able to take a Ruthless punch?  Not a chance.  Though I think Souza will be winning most of the fight, I expect Robbie to catch him with something late in the fight.

Herschel Walker vs Scott Carson, the fight of 40 year olds.  I think Scott Carson is coming out of retirement to fight here.  Take Herschel to beat this can easily.

Roger Gracie vs Trevor Prangley will be a close fight as well.  Prangley is coming off a win vs another UFC veteran Keith Jardine so he must be feeling pretty good.  Gracie’s BJJ is well Gracie BJJ.  I’m sure he can find a submission somewhere.  This fight will end up on the ground sometime, and Roger will catch Trevor with something.
