UFC 121 Picks

UFC 121: Lesnar vs. Velasquez

Date: Oct 23, 2010

Location: Anaheim, California
Venue: Honda Center
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

The following UFC 121 odds are from Bodog as of 10/12/2010.  Bet on UFC at Bodog

MAIN CARD

  • Champ Brock Lesnar -175 vs. Cain Velasquez +145 (for heavyweight title)
  • Martin Kampmann +200 vs. Jake Shields -260
  • Diego Sanchez vs. Paulo Thiago
  • Matt Hamill -170 vs. Tito Ortiz +140
  • Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Brendan Schaub

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike TV)

  • Ryan Jensen vs. Court McGee
  • Patrick Cote vs. Tom Lawlor

PRELIMINARY CARD (un-aired)

  • Sam Stout vs. Paul Taylor
  • Mike Guymon vs. Daniel Roberts
  • Chris Camozzi vs. Dongi Yang
  • Jon Madsen vs. Gilbert Yvel

Brock Lesnar is back at UFC 121 and again he will have to fight off a very tough undefeated fighter in Cain Velasquez.  Brock took some punishment from Carwin, and it will be highly unlikely that he will face the same punching power in Cain.  Cain is more well rounded though and more likely to squeak out a decision victory.  I still think Brock will take this though due to his advantage in strength.  Most likely a very long 25 min affair.

Jake Shields makes his UFC debut at UFC 121 and faces a tough competitor in Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann.  Though Kampmann is a good striker, Jake Shields has faced tougher, and his bad standup shouldn’t be an issue when he eventually submits the hitman.

Diego Sanchez is in a downward spiral in his ufc career, and it might go even lower vs the dangerous Paulo Thiago.  Diego is terrible vs anybody with better striking than himself, and this holds well for Paulo.  I would bet on ufc fighter Paulo Thiago here.

Tito Ortiz is another fighter who I feel will never win a ufc fight again, unless they match him up with an old gracie, a boxer, or one of the original ufc fighters.  He is done, and Matt Hamill will deafinitely make that come true.

Also on October 21, non UFC related, Bellator 33 will happen in Philadelphia.  The main event will be Eddie Alvarez (-260) vs Roger “El Matador” Huerta (+200).  Fresh of the heels of his streetfight Roger Huerta will fight a real mma fighter in Eddie Alvarez.  Eddie will be too tought for Huerta here and should be victorious.

You can bet on UFC 121 and Bellator 33 at Bodog
