UFC 122 is only a couple days away and unfortunately no there hasn’t been any new matches added to the card. In a card lacking any superstars, looking more like a UFC fight night rather than a full fledged event. Maybe thats why it still isn’t sold out in Germany yet.
The main card features Nate “The Great” Marquardt vs Yushin Okami. Tough test for Marquardt as Okami finds ways not to lose. Okami has power but haven’t really seen any knockout power so Nate should be safe from that. The most likely output will be Nate winning by a 3 round snoozer. At 5Dimes you can bet how long fights last, so a decision bet would be the favourite here.
Jorge Rivera has been rejuvinated lately, and unfortunately for Sakara he is standing in his warpath. This will definitely be a slugfest making for the fight of the match. Look for Rivera to continue his winning ways a pull off a tko here.
Dennis Siver is a fighter with all the moves but not the finish. He finds ways to lose, and this time it will be to a Winner, Andre that is. Andre should be successful here.
Amir Sadollah returns to the octagon as a big favourite over who??? Peter Sobotta. ok..
In another good match Krzysztof Soszynski (hope I spelt it right) vs Goran Reljic will be a very good technical battle, which will likely end up in a decision. For who? I don’t have a clue.
On the undercard, one odd that is puzzling me is why Duane Ludwig is a +225 underdog to Nick Osipczak? Definately worth the underdog pick here.
Also the 2nd last WEC fight card is on tonight featuring Urijah Faber vs Takeya Mizugaki. Urijah is a heavy -370 favourite here.

In a surprise announcement, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) will merge with its parent company Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) in January 2011. This means that the bantamweight and featherweight divisions will be introduced into UFC fights and the lightweight division will merge with the UFC one.
“The timing was right,” White said. “The reality is we purchased the WEC, (and) we started getting these lighter-weight guys exposure on television. … Now, as the UFC continues to grow globally, and we’re doing more and more fights, now we’re bringing in those lighter weightclasses.”
The final 2 WEC events will be WEC 52 on Nov 11 and WEC 53 on Dec 16. You can bet on these final 2 WEC fights at BetUS. Current featherweight champion Jose Aldo will keep his belt and become a UFC title holder. He will defend that title at UFC 125 on Jan 1. The other 2 belts are on the line at WEC53 bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz vs Scott Jorgensen and Ben Henderson takes on Anthony Pettis for the lightweight crown. Then the winner of that fight will merge UFC/WEC titles and fight the winner of the Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard fight.
2011 will definately be an exciting year for MMA fans.

I forgot to post my WEC Bowles vs Torres picks, so I’ll post the strikeforce picks earlier than normal. Though it never crossed my mind that Bowles would defeat Torres. Not sure what the min odds it would have taken for me to take Bowles.
I can’t wait for this inaugural women’s title match, Gina “Conviction” Carano vs Cristianne “Cyborg” Santos. I would have to put Gina as a nice favourite in this one. Even though Cyborg is a tough cookie, Carano’s standup is unmatched, and I really believe this should sttay up on their feet. The bigger question is if they will make weight or not.
Nick Diaz vs Jay Hieron won’t even be close, Diaz will demolish Hieron. Edit: Now that Diaz would rather get high than wear championship gold, Jesse Taylor vs Jay Hieron will be a much closer match. At even money I would probably go with size over experience. Taylor for the decision victory.
Though Babalu has looked much improved lately, this should be a no contest as well. Gegard IMO might be in the top 10 P$P fighters in the world and just dominates Renato’s skills in every area.
I really hate boring fighters and Ishida is easily in the top 10 boring fighters list. Hopefully Melendez is very hungry for revenge and just punishes him. I would take Melendez here as well.
You can bet on Strikeforce fights here
